2008 SCR Officers

Ken Wimberly – Chairman
Ken Wimberly, with Sperry Van Ness - Visions Commercial, is serving as the 2008 SCR Chairman. With expertise primarily in land sales, Wimberly has been in the business for the past six years. He has held a position on the SCR Board of Governors since 2004, serving as an officer for the past two years. In addition, he has served as chairman of both the SCR technology and education committees for the past few years. He obtained a BBA in finance / real estate from TCU and is involved in the community, serving Big Brothers / Big Sisters.

Donnie Sherwood – Vice Chairman
Donnie Sherwood, MAI, managing director of the Fort Worth office of Integra Realty Resources, serves as the 2008 SCR Vice Chairman. Sherwood has been a real estate appraiser since 1978 and is a qualified real estate valuation expert in both state and federal court. He served as the 1998 president of the Dallas / Fort Worth chapter of the International Right-of-Way Association (IRWA) and was named “Professional of the Year” by the chapter in 1998. He also is a
past president of the Central Texas Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. In addition, he teaches for both the Appraisal Institute and the IRWA and has served as an adjunct professor in the finance department of TCU. He is the author of “Easement Valuation,” published by the Southwestern Legal Foundation, and has written several seminars. He is an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Mansfield and is active in the Boy Scouts.

Ron Rainey – Secretary / Treasurer
Ron Rainey, with ARSCO Real Estate, is serving his first year as an officer on the 2008 SCR Board of Governors. In addition to his real estate career, Rainey is also the Executive Director of the Benbrook Economic Development Corporation. Having been in the business for the past 12 years, Rainey’s area of expertise consists of economic and industrial development. Actively involved in the community, Rainey has served as president of the Greater Fort Worth Economic Development Association and as a board member for the Texas Economic Development Council.

Mark Howe – Immediate Past Chairman
Mark Howe, of Howe / Wood and Company, is serving as the 2008 Immediate Past Chairman of SCR. Having served the past four years as an officer of SCR, Howe is well-versed with the organization. He partnered with Mark Wood 20 years ago to create Howe / Wood & Company and is a member of the North Texas Land Council. In addition, he is a past president of the Grapevine – Colleyville Education Foundation and has served as a past Board member of both the Colleyville Chamber of Commerce and the Northeast Tarrant County Chamber of Commerce. Actively involved in his community, Howe is a member of various committees at Grapevine United Methodist Church and is a member of the Northeast Tarrant County
Lion’s Club.
 
   
2008 SCR Governors
 
Jerry Barton, with Jerry Barton Company, Inc., is serving his first term on the SCR Board of Governors. With over 36 years of expertise in real estate, Barton specializes in land sales, development, retail and industrial sales. Barton began his real estate career by working for Leonard Properties in 1969. He started Tarrant Paving Corporation in 1971 and opened his own office in 1972. Barton has served as chairman of the TREPAC Committee for the Greater Fort Worth Association of REALTORS and on the GFWAR Board of Directors. In the past, he's served as chairman of the East Area Council of Governments. Currently, Barton serves as a member of the East Fort Worth Rotary Club and as a Mason and Shriner.

 

Bruce Baucum, with Patterson & Associates, is serving his fifth year on the SCR Board of Governors. With over 10 years of experience in real estate, he has been a member of SCR since 1994. Actively involved in the community, Baucum has served on the Long Range Strategic Planning Committee for Northwest I.S.D. and as the 2001 finance chairman of the Bond Finance Committee for Northwest I.S.D. In 2004, he served as vice chairman of the Northwest Communities Partnership, a committee of community leaders in northern Tarrant, southern Denton and southeast Wise counties.

Paul Carpenter, with Premier Development, is beginning his first term on the SCR Board of Governors. Carpenter has been involved in real estate for the past 30 years and formed his brokerage firm, Premier Development, in 1993. He is a member of the Dallas Apartment Association, the Richardson Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club of Dallas, International Association of Assessing Officers, North Texas CCIM and Real Estate Financial Executives Association. He serves or has served as President of the North Texas Real Estate Investors Club and as President of the Optimist Club of Richardson.

Nell Council, CCIM, a broker with SCM Real Estate Services, has over 25 years of experience in the commercial real estate field. She specializes in medical, dental and general office leasing and brokerage and is serving her second term on the SCR Board of Governors. Council has been active in the Arlington Board of REALTORS and served as a TAR director from 1982 to 1984 and from 1988 to 1989. In addition, she has been involved in the Arlington Library Foundation, the Tarrant Appraisal Review Board and the Arlington Zoning Board of Adjustment. The proudest moment in her career was when she received her CCIM designation. 

Mel Harris, EcoBroker Certified®, ABR, e-PRO, broker / principal of Elements Realty Group, LLC, is serving another term as an SCR governor. Harris has been very involved with the REALTOR Association since his membership in 2001. He currently serves the Greater Fort Worth Association of REALTORS as the Secretary / Treasurer and has served on the GFWAR Board of Directors for the past several years. Harris also has served on the Task Force for the TAR Housing Opportunity Fund for the Rebuild Rita Project and was a graduate of the GFWAR 2006 Leadership Class. In addition, he is serving as the 2008 liaison for the TAR Housing Initiatives Committee. Outside the Association, Harris is an active member of the Tarrant Coalition of Environmental Awareness, the United States Green Building Council and is on the Board of the Youth Orchestra of Greater Fort Worth.

Phil Sandlin, Vice President of Marketing Services with the Tarrant County office of Bradford Companies, is serving his first term on the SCR Board of Governors. Specializing in office, industrial, and land, he has over 27 years of brokerage and real estate experience ranging from site selection and acquisition to development and leasing / sales. Sandlin has written articles about various market sectors for national real estate publications and is a past chairman of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo committee. A graduate of Texas A&M University, Sandlin is involved in numerous civic and youth sports activities.

Bill Tinsley, with Ellis & Tinsley, Inc., is serving another term on the SCR Board of Governors. A Fort Worth native, Tinsley got his start working for Don Pablo’s as its general manager, responsible for operations in Louisville, Cincinnati, Flint and Orlando. Moving back to Fort Worth for a career in commercial real estate, Tinsley was recognized by the Business Press in its “Forty Under Forty” awards program in 2004. Tinsley has been a GFWAR member since 1997 and has served on the Fort Worth Building Standards Commission for seven years – the latter five as its chairman. In addition, he is the recipient of the 2004 GFWAR President's Award and the 2005 GFWAR Spirit Award.
