About the Speaker:
Betsy Price, a Fort Worth native, was elected as the 44th mayor of the City of Fort Worth June 18, 2011. A successful business owner for 17 years, Mayor Price began her career in public service as Tarrant County Tax Assessor in 2000 and quickly used her business experience to make her department one of the most efficient in Texas, saving taxpayers millions of dollars. Holding the line on costs and improving customer service, Mayor Price helped the Tax Assessor’s office win national and statewide awards for efficiency, innovation and performance. Her office efficiently handled an increasing workload — Tarrant County grew by more than 200,000 people during her tenure — and accomplished that with virtually no increase in her department’s budget. After graduating from Arlington Heights High School, she earned a science degree in biology at the University of Texas in Arlington. Before being elected to office, she owned Price Cornelius Title Service.

The Texas REALTORS® Leadership Program (TRLP) is designed to assist members in acquiring the skills for leadership, as well as strengthen their involvement on all levels of the REALTOR® organization, and equip them with the tools and information needed to take the next step in their careers.

The program consists of nine modules that will be offered from Fall 2011 through Spring 2012, and includes an overnight retreat and a trip to Austin. Graduates of the TRLP are placed on the fast track for leadership opportunities at both their local association and the Texas Association of REALTORS®.

Leadership Program 2011-2012 Schedule:
Each TRLP session is unique and will feature speakers and guests from several arenas of leadership, including business, political, and community leaders. The class will also meet with several of the top leaders within the REALTOR® association. Keep in mind that participants will need to plan to spend the full day listed below for each session, although the hours will vary.

Module 3: Planning Your Success – November 4, 2011
Module 4: Leadership Across Differences – December 2, 2011

Program Details:
The number of participants will be a maximum of approximately 20-25 to encourage personal participation. Since the number of appointments to the TRLP is limited, applicants who are not selected are encouraged to re-apply in subsequent years. A TRLP Selection Committee will select program members from a cross-section of the REALTOR® membership within the participating boards and associations. Attendance at retreats and monthly sessions is mandatory. Those who fail to attend may be asked to withdraw, with no refund of tuition.

Tuition for the nine module program is $450. This may be paid entirely by the participant or in partnership with a broker or a sponsor.

Application Process:
Following the completion of an application, TRLP participants will be selected by an anonymous committee of participating board and association members. The deadline to submit an application for the 2011-2012 TRLP is 5 p.m., Friday, July 29th.

Since the sale of the business, he has served as Dean of Continuing Education at TCU and as an associate with William C. Jennings Company.
